BEST MOVE — The Better Movers

Fifteen minutes from our Oxnard yard

Camarillo movers

The county's most senior-heavy city, and the moves we do best. Family-owned since 1985.

Served from our Oxnard yard

Camarillo is served from our Oxnard yard on Perkins Rd — about fifteen minutes down the 101. Storage vaults are inland at the Newbury Park warehouse, over the Conejo Grade — a better environment for furniture than anything nearer the coast.

What this city calls us for

Camarillo is a retirement town, and we move retirements

More of our Camarillo work is senior moves than everything else put together. The city has one of the largest retirement populations in Ventura County, including several substantial gated 55-plus communities, and that produces a steady flow of exactly the jobs we have specialised in: downsizing out of a family home, moving into independent or assisted living, and clearing the house afterwards.

The practical difference in this city is the gates. Those communities set their own access hours, quiet hours and move-in windows, and several require a certificate of insurance on file before a truck is allowed through. We confirm every one of them with the community office before the day.

If you are arranging this for a parent — and most people reading this are — the senior and assisted-living moving page walks through the whole process, including the five things worth having ready before you call anyone.

Street by street

What each part of Camarillo needs

  • Leisure Village and the gated 55-plus communities

The single biggest reason this yard stays busy. Gate procedures, quiet hours, restricted contractor windows and a certificate of insurance on file are all normal here. We confirm every one of them with the community office before the day, rather than sending a truck to negotiate at a gatehouse.

  • Mission Oaks

The largest family neighbourhood in the city — 1970s through 90s tracts on a flat grid off Ponderosa Drive. Wide streets, driveways a truck can back into, and the easiest access in Camarillo. Most of these are straightforward full-day jobs.

  • Camarillo Heights

Up on the slope above the town, with the views and the driveways that come with them. Some approaches are steep enough that a loaded truck stays at the kerb and the crew carries. That costs you nothing with us, but it does change which truck we send.

  • Las Posas Estates

Large lots, long private drives and a fair amount of horse property toward the Las Posas hills. Outbuildings, tack and equipment routinely add more volume than the house does — worth telling us about when you book.

  • Springville and Village at the Park

Newer construction on the north and east sides, out toward Camarillo Airport. Modern layouts, alley-loaded garages in places, shared driveways, and three levels of stairs in the townhomes. The stairs are the job; the access is fine.

  • Old Town Camarillo

The older blocks around Ventura Boulevard — narrower lots, tighter street parking and a mix of small commercial. Most of our Camarillo office and retail work is along here and goes after hours.

Tell us the community or the cross streets and we will know the access before we arrive.

Local things that change a Camarillo move

The Conejo Grade is the first. Anything moving between Camarillo and the Conejo Valley climbs it, and a fully loaded truck climbs it slowly. We plan the day around that rather than discovering it at 4pm.

Morning fog off the plain is the second, and it is a genuine consideration on a beach-adjacent move: furniture that sits out in it gets damp. We wrap before anything leaves the house and keep the truck closed between loads.

Third, the weekend traffic around the Camarillo Premium Outlets makes the Las Posas interchange slow enough to matter. A weekday morning move in that part of town is faster, and on an hourly job faster is cheaper.

And there is a seasonal one worth knowing: student moves cluster around CSU Channel Islands over on the Camarillo plain at the start and end of term, which tightens up the small-apartment end of our schedule in late August and again in May.

Questions

Camarillo moving questions

More in the full FAQ.

Which yard covers Camarillo?

Our Oxnard yard at 5235 Perkins Rd, Oxnard — about fifteen minutes down the 101. The branch number is (805) 486-2300.

We have no Camarillo address and are not going to invent one. The crews start their day in the west county, which is what actually matters when you are paying by the hour.

Do you move people into the 55-plus communities here?

Constantly. Camarillo has one of the largest retirement populations in Ventura County, and moves into and out of its gated 55-plus communities are the steadiest work this yard does.

Those communities set their own rules — gate access, quiet hours, move-in windows and insurance paperwork. We confirm all of it with the community office before the day rather than sending a truck to negotiate at a gatehouse.

My parent is moving into assisted living in Camarillo. Can you handle it if I live out of state?

Yes, and a large share of the senior moves we run here are arranged by an adult child somewhere else. We quote from photos, coordinate the move-in window with the community directly, set the apartment up completely before we leave, and call you when we start and when we finish.

The whole process is on our senior and assisted-living moving page, including the five things worth having ready before you call anyone.

What happens to the family home afterwards?

Our TRASH DAY division can clear it — donations and recycling first, landfill last — usually on a separate day from the move, with the same point of contact.

If the house is going on the market, we can also work to the stager or realtor’s schedule so the right furniture leaves before photography.

How much does a move within Camarillo cost?

Local moves are hourly by crew size and truck. Stairs, long carries, fuel, wardrobe boxes and furniture assembly are in the rate, and there is no deposit to book a date.

A move from a house into a single retirement-community apartment is normally a shorter job than a full household move, because far less is going — many are finished in half a day.
