BEST MOVE — The Better Movers

Since 1985

Furniture Assembly and Disassembly in Ventura County

Taken apart and rebuilt at no extra charge. It is in the hourly rate.

This is not really a separate service so much as a promise that we will not charge you extra for it. Plenty of movers price disassembly and reassembly as a line item. We do not — the crews carry full tool kits and power tools and it is part of the job.

It also works as a standalone call. People phone us to rebuild a bunk bed, mount a bracket a delivery crew would not touch, or put together the flat-pack wardrobe that has been in the box since March.

What the crews take apart and rebuild

  • Bed frames of every size, including adjustable bases
  • Bunk beds and loft beds
  • Mirrored dressers and armoires
  • Dining tables — legs, leaves and pedestals
  • Cribs and changing tables
  • Desks, bookcases and shelving units
  • Sectional sofas and modular seating
  • Washer, dryer and refrigerator disconnect and reconnect, including ice-maker lines
  • Flat-pack furniture assembled from the box

Step by step

How it actually goes

  1. Photograph and bag the hardware

Before anything comes apart, the crew bags the bolts and cam locks and tapes them to the piece they belong to. Missing hardware is the number one reason furniture does not go back together.

  2. Break down only what has to come apart

If a dresser fits through the door assembled, it goes through assembled. Every disassembly is a chance to strip a fastener, so we do it when the route requires it and not by default.

  3. Rebuild in the room it lives in

The bed is rebuilt where the bed goes, not in the hallway to be shuffled twice.

  4. Appliances hooked up and checked

Washer hoses on and checked for leaks, dryer vented, refrigerator leveled and the ice-maker line connected. We run them before we leave.

Questions

Furniture Assembly questions we get asked

Not the one you needed? The full FAQ covers pricing, moving day and what we will and will not move — or just call and ask.

Do you charge extra for taking apart and rebuilding furniture?

No. On a BEST MOVE job it is included in the hourly rate. There is no per-item assembly fee and no surcharge.

Will you hook up my washer and dryer?

Yes — hoses connected and checked for leaks, dryer vented, and we run them before we leave. Same with refrigerators, including the ice-maker line where there is a valve to connect to.

Can you assemble furniture that is still in the box?

Yes. Flat-pack wardrobes, desks, shelving and bed frames. If it came with instructions and hardware, the crews can build it.

What if hardware is missing or a part is broken?

We bag and label hardware at disassembly precisely so this does not happen. If something arrives already missing pieces, the crew will tell you on the spot and get as far as it can rather than force it.

Do you mount TVs on the wall?

We take TVs down, wrap them and reinstall on an existing mount. New wall mounts into studs or masonry are a job for a licensed installer, and we will say so rather than put a hole in your drywall.
